Stopping water
at the top
A missing or failed cap or chase cover is one of the most common causes of chimney water damage, and one of the most avoidable.
Stainless caps and custom chase covers
We install standard single-flue caps, custom multi-flue caps for wider stacks, and custom-fabricated chase covers sized to an existing chase exactly. No gaps, no rust-prone galvanized shortcuts.
We've replaced plenty of flat, rusted galvanized covers with proper stainless replacements, plus the top trim work that finishes the job cleanly.
What this prevents
- Rain and snow dropping straight down an open flue onto the damper and firebox.
- Birds, squirrels and raccoons nesting in the chimney, and everything that comes with that.
- Rust streaks and water staining running down the side of the house.
Signs you need this
Rust streaks running down the chase or chimney, a warped or flattened cover holding standing water, missing spark arrestor mesh, or animals getting into the flue.
Run the estimate worksheet →Why stainless over galvanized
Stainless steel
Resists rust and holds up to Michigan winters far longer than galvanized.
Custom fabrication
Built to your chase's exact dimensions rather than forced into a generic fit.
Proper sealing
Correct flashing and fasteners, so water sheds off instead of finding a way in.
